Basketball Recap: Putnam Heights Academy Gets the Win

Putnam Heights Academy was handed a 61-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Stillwater S Spartans 55-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Putnam Heights Academy also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2021.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Truett Tolar, who posted 22 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nash Bertram, who put up 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

The victory got Putnam Heights Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Stillwater S, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Putnam Heights Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wynona at 7:00 p.m. on January 28, 2025. Stillwater S will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Life Christian at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
