Gunderson is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while San Jose is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Grizzlies will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Gunderson made easy work of Overfelt and carried off a 16-2 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.
Gunderson let Talia Abuhamid and Julie Ordaz run wild. Abuhamid went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ordaz got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chiemi Wong, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
San Jose came out on top against Evergreen Valley on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Cougars 10-9. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Charlie Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Evans is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Kimberly Gomez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
San Jose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in four consecutive games.
Gunderson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for San Jose, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Gunderson came out on top in a nail-biter against San Jose in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 15-14. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
