Basketball Recap: Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova Takes a Loss

Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Cordova Wolves and fell 100-59. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Wolves are ranked 132nd).

Despite the loss, Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova still got an impressive performance from Kevin Steveson, who went 13-for-22 on his way to 34 points. Thanks to that strong game, Steveson now owns an excellent 48.3% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Gray, who posted ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Cordova, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova and Pleasant View will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cordova will take on Collierville in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
