Volleyball Recap: Hoover Triumphs

The Hoover Vikings beat the Independence Blue Devils 3-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Hoover had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16.

Audrey Ellis paced Hoover's offense, picking up 18 kills. Ellis got some help from Claire Jurica and her 39 assists. Ellis was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, don't look at Sofia Pichert. Despite the final result, she had 23 digs and five assists.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Hoover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Villa Angela-St. Joseph on the 21st. As for Independence, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Richmond Heights on the 26th.
