Manvel and Summer Creek squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Manvel had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 72-35 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-7.

When it comes to explaining why Manvel lost, don't look at Dante Mayes. Despite the final result, he rushed for 88 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Eric Mosley III helped out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Even if they lost, Manvel's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

A big part of Summer Creek's victory came down to the chemistry between Noah Spinks and his top target Benny Easter Jr.. Spinks threw for 457 yards and eight touchdowns while picking up 19.9 yards per attempt while Easter Jr. picked up 252 receiving yards and five TDs. Thanks to that big game, Spinks is now up to 38 passing touchdowns on the season. Jamicah Jones also helped out as he racked up 104 receiving yards.
