4A DC 6 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Ameil Braswell Delivers Electric Performance Vs Riverside-Durham

Starting off the list is Hillside's Ameil Braswell, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Braswell rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2023.

If the past is any indication, Braswell could be in store for another big game when he takes on Northern Durham on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Braswell saw the Knights), he rushed for 51 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries.

Channing Gaines Turns in Season-Best Performance

On Friday, Riverside-Durham had to settle for second even though Channing Gaines put up the best numbers he has all season. Gaines wasn't messing around, making 17 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending two passes. The contest was his seventh straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

For the year, Gaines has averaged 13 total tackles per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.2 defended passes per game. This year he is averaging one defended passe.
