Softball Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Randolph Ro-Hawks

Nixon-Smiley is 7-2 against Randolph since March of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Randolph Ro-Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Randolph took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Nixon-Smiley, who comes in off a win.

Even though Luling scored an imposing ten runs on Thursday, Nixon-Smiley still came out on top. Nixon-Smiley had just enough and edged Luling out 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nixon-Smiley.

Nichole Ivey was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and a stolen base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Hailee Houseston, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Randolph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 21-5 walloping at the hands of Marion.

Liz Landreath was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Richardson, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Nixon-Smiley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season. As for Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.
