Softball Recap: Community's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Community waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Zion Christian Academy Eagles 11-1. For the Vikings/Viqueens, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Gracie Daniel, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mattie Maxey was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Daniel wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Community kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Community's win bumped their record up to 10-1-2. As for Zion Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Community is taking a road trip to take on Blackman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Zion Christian Academy, they will welcome Franklin Road Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Zion Christian Academy has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
