Softball Recap: Walnut Mustangs vs. Bonita Bearcats

Walnut had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-18 to make it 11. They came up short against the Bonita Bearcats, falling 17-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-0 defeat back in March.

Walnut saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rihanna J, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Bonita, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Bonita's side, Adrianna Mangini was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyy Hicks, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Walnut will square off against rival Diamond Bar at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bonita is set to challenge their familiar foe Glendora at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bearcats 3.7, the Tartans 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
