Goreville had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Trico Pioneers 14-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Blackcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Emma Rogers was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elisabeth Trainor, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Goreville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Trico, they now have a losing record of 6-7. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

On Trico's side, Emma Williams led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Aubrey Cotter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Goreville will square off against Pinckneyville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Trico, they will challenge Marissa/Coulterville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Meteors have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
