Football Recap: Burlington Skates Past Wiggins with Ease + How To Watch

It was a proper cat-fight when Burlington challenged Wiggins on Friday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 28-0 victory over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by 28 points or more so far this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Scout Humrich and Jason Saucedo. Humrich rushed for 171 yards and one TD on only nine carries while Saucedo rushed for 80 yards and a pair of scores. That's the most rushing yards Humrich has posted since back in November of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Burlington proved: they limited Wiggins to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. While three picked up at least four total tackles, Humrich stood above the rest. He rushed for 171 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Burlington didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

Burlington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as TJ Castillo, Cooper Witzel, Humrich, and Anthony Estrada picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Humrich is now averaging an impressive 100.4 rushing yards per game.

Burlington's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Wiggins, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Burlington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-0 loss against Limon on the 24th. As for Wiggins, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-2 defeat against Holyoke on the 24th.
