League recap: Indian Land stuns Buford in upset

AA Region IV recap November 5, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Indian Land, who defeated 170th ranked Buford, 23-19. Derries Hampton ran for 66 yards during the win.

Cheraw added to the longest winning streak in AA Region IV this week by beating Chesterfield, 32-28. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Dillon Rivers threw for 270 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 28-42 with 1 interception.

Rivers put up the best numbers through the air as the Golden Rams fell to Cheraw. Rivers' favorite target this week was David Grant, who caught 14 passes for 137 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Chesterfield's Rivers and Grant have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Rivers has thrown for 3,284 yards this season, while Grant has 84 catches for 1,234 yards. Andrew Jackson's Kolby Whitley leads the league in rushing yards with 582.

As it stands, the Volunteers are in fourth, while the Yellowjackets are in fifth.

Central took down Andrew Jackson 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
