Softball Game Preview: Harpeth Indians vs. Houston County Fighting Irish

The Harpeth Indians will head out to face off against the Houston County Fighting Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Harpeth has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harpeth came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-5 to Camden Central.

Harpeth saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Vannata, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Vannata also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Another was Cameron Hayes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Houston County was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They came up short against Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, falling 12-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Fighting Irish were not able to get on the board.

With the defeat, Houston County broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Harpeth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

Harpeth might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Houston County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
