Preview: LaConner Braves vs. Squalicum Storm
LaConner is 3-0 against Squalicum since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The LaConner Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Squalicum Storm at 7:15 p.m. LaConner will be strutting in after a victory while Squalicum will be coming in after a defeat.
LaConner has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Oakville on Friday as LaConner made off with a 56-35 victory. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for LaConner considering their 20-point performance the match before.
Maeve Mccormick was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven steals. The match was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniquah Casey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Squalicum, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-34 loss to Ferndale last Thursday. Squalicum has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
LaConner's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.67 points. As for Squalicum, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Everything came up roses for LaConner against Squalicum in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 50-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaConner since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
