Recap: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Bayou Academy Colts
The Leake Academy Rebels pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bayou Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Leake Academy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Bayou Academy is ranked 44th).
Leake Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Marleigh Myers and Anna Morgan Young. Myers scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Young scored 12 points along with two steals. Codi Breedlove was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Leake Academy and nudges their season record down to 28-7. As for Bayou Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-12.
Leake Academy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Parklane Academy at 6:03 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Leake Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday. Bayou Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
