Volleyball Recap: Sports & Medical Sciences Academy Triumphs

Sports & Medical Sciences Academy's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Phoenix. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Phoenix, too.

Sports & Medical Sciences Academy was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Valerie Santiago, who had ten digs and nine aces. Those nine aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chantel Ramos, who had five aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Sports & Medical Sciences Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

The win got Sports & Medical Sciences Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Sports & Medical Sciences Academy will head out to square off against Classical Magnet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy of Science and Innovation at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
