St. Paul's Episcopal had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 29-28 victory over the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Saints, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

UMS-Wright Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Max Fowler and Richard Scott. Fowler threw for 197 yards and one touchdown, while Scott gained 139 total yards and a touchdown.

St. Paul's Episcopal and UMS-Wright Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Saints (ranked 40th) will meet Baldwin County (ranked 129th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, UMS-Wright Prep will face off against LeFlore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (45 vs. 236).
