Basketball Game Preview: Burlington Elks vs. Cherokee Chiefs

The Burlington Elks are taking a road trip to face off against the Cherokee Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Burlington is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Burlington was beaten by Waynoka 45-18.

Meanwhile, everything went Cherokee's way against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale on Friday as Cherokee made off with a 41-19 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Cherokee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-11. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points over those games. As for Burlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.

Burlington took a serious blow against Cherokee in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 65-13. Can Burlington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
