Basketball Recap: Alex Gehring's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Denver South over Rangeview

If Denver South was riding high fresh off their 60-28 takedown of DMLK last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Denver South Ravens fell just short of the Rangeview Raiders by a score of 50-47 on Tuesday. The Ravens have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Denver South's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Gehring, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Gehring a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Abriella Garcia, who scored eight points and six steals.

Rangeview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devyn Davenport led the charge by putting up 12 points along with eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Kilmer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Denver South's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Rangeview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Denver South wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-23 victory against Manual on the 20th. As for Rangeview, they have also already played their next matchup, a 46-35 loss against Mountain Vista on the 19th.
