Softball Recap: Preston Comes Up Short

Preston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Robert C. Byrd Eagles. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hannah Liston was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Thistlethwaite, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Robert C. Byrd, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-16.

Preston wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-1 loss against Southern on the 25th. As for Robert C. Byrd, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-0 defeat against Grafton on the 25th.
