Chad Kelly, nephew of Jim Kelly, and Bret Helton, son of Barry Helton, among nation's passing leaders.
Jim Kelly was a Hall of Fame quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, leading his team to four Super Bowls and finishing as one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. But last week his nephew, Chad Kelly, did something the all-time great never did.

In leading St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute (Buffalo, N.Y.) to a 53-40 win over Wilson (Whitby, Ontario, Canada), Kelly completed 30 of 50 passes for 438 yards and five touchdowns. The yardage total is 33 yards more than his uncle's best, which was a 405-yard effort in 1989.
Kelly's performance is one of many outstanding efforts reported to MaxPreps this week and his 438 yards ranks seventh on this week's top passing performances.
Kelly is not the only athlete among this week's national stat stars with NFL bloodlines. Bret Helton of Cheyenne Mountain (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is the son of two-time Super Bowl champion Barry Helton, who was a punter for the San Francisco 49ers. The younger Helton passed for 448 yards and four touchdowns last week in a 44-42 loss to Rampart.
Following are the top performers from last week based on statistics reported by coaches to MaxPreps.
