Basketball Recap: Vance County Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Vance County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots by a score of 68-66 on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Vance County still got an impressive performance from Damon Heggie, who posted 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Del'Quaveon Bullock, who earned 15 points.

Vance County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-53 defeat against Vance Charter on the 19th. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Research Triangle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
