Silver Lake Regional faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lakers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bombers a 1-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Lakers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Silver Lake Regional's win bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Westfield, they moved to 20-7 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Silver Lake Regional will be playing at home against Bedford at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lakers 0.6, the Buccaneers 0.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Westfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
