Baseball Recap: University Prep's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

University Prep had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 10-9 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Big Bear Bears. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ricky Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because University Prep is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Angel Herrera was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Danny Anumada also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

University Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

As for Big Bear, they now have a losing record of 8-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Big Bear's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennen Berge, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Zen Sisson was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As of now, neither University Prep nor Big Bear have any future games scheduled.
