Softball Recap: Pinckneyville's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

Pinckneyville dropped their record down to 20-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tolono Unity Rockets. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Tolono Unity, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 28-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Tolono Unity's part, Lindy Bates spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Bates has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jenna Adkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Pinckneyville will face off against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 4, the Orphans 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tolono Unity, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Freeburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
