Basketball Recap: Omaha North Vikings vs. Benson Bunnies

The Omaha North Vikings stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They put the hurt on Benson with a sharp 65-41 victory. The win was nothing new for Omaha North as they're now sitting on eight straight.

It was another big night for Mynor Strong, who scored 26 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerri'on Williams, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Benson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominik Rice. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with four steals. Rice has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Daniel Lino was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 15 rebounds and two blocks.

Omaha North's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Benson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Omaha North won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Discoverers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Columbus has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests. As for Benson, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Bears at 5:15 p.m. Bryan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bunnies in Nebraska (the Bears are ranked 33rd, while the Bunnies are ranked 167th).
