Baseball Recap: Bridgeport Central Takes a Loss

Bridgeport Central had lost 21 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-19 to make it 22. They came up short against the Greenwich Cardinals, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Tuesday.

As for Greenwich, their record now sits at 8-14. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Greenwich's part, Stephen Iasillo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Max Marek was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emerson Bulis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Greenwich beat Bridgeport Central by a score of 10-0 later that day.
