Basketball Game Preview: Broaddus Bulldogs vs. Laneville Yellowjackets

Broaddus hasn't had much luck against Laneville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Broaddus Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Laneville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Broaddus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Laneville likes a good challenge.

Broaddus saw some tournament action on Saturday. They ended the year with a bang, routing Garrison 57-37. Broaddus has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Broaddus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colton Modisette, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Williams, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Broaddus was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Laneville played against Martinsville and lost via forfeit.

Broaddus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Laneville, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Broaddus couldn't quite finish off Laneville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 60-57. Can Broaddus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
