Softball Recap: Cuthbertson Has No Trouble Against Myers Park

Cuthbertson won the last time they faced Myers Park and things went their way on Wednesday too. Cuthbertson was the clear victor by an 18-4 margin over Myers Park. Considering the Cavaliers have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Caroline Petroff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Martens, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Petroff wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Cuthbertson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Cuthbertson pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Myers Park, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cuthbertson will challenge Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cuthbertson 2.3, Weddington 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Myers Park, they will square off against Ballantyne Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ballantyne Ridge has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.21 runs per game on average), something Myers Park will no doubt try to take advantage of.
