Basketball Recap: Oskaloosa Takes a Loss

Oskaloosa lost against Valley Falls back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oskaloosa Bears took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Falls Dragons. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Oskaloosa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derrick Harvey dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Harvey continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Boyd, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Collin Kearney, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Kearney is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 63% in the last five games he's played. Damian Cervantez was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Oskaloosa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Valley Falls, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Oskaloosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-29 loss against Troy on the 20th. As for Valley Falls, they have also already played their next game, a 59-57 win against Perry-Lecompton on the 18th.
