Volleyball Recap: Windermere Prep Comes Up Short

Windermere Prep lost against Montverde Academy back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lakers lost 3-0 to the Eagles. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Windermere Prep was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-23, 25-15.

Despite the defeat, Windermere Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sophia Wadsworth had 18 digs and three assists. Wadsworth is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Kamilah Hamdan also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Windermere Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Montverde Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Windermere Prep will venture away from home to face off against Lake Minneola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montverde Academy, they will head out to square off against New Smyrna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
