Baseball Recap: Fairmont Senior Wins High-Profile Contest Against Robert C. Byrd

Fairmont Senior faced Robert C. Byrd in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Polar Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 4-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Polar Bears in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Brayden Gorby made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
