Basketball Recap: Cripple Creek-Victor Comes Up Short

Cripple Creek-Victor fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Moffat on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 26-25 to the Moffat Cowboys. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cripple Creek-Victor lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Savannah Mead, who posted nine points and eight boards. Those nine points gave her a new career-high. Rylee May was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cripple Creek-Victor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They pulled down six more offensive boards than Moffat's also-impressive total of 11.

Moffat was led to victory by Kandra Pollard and Shauna Pollard. Kandra almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals, while Shauna dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 steals. Kandra is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Cripple Creek-Victor's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Moffat, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Cripple Creek-Victor will challenge Creede at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Moffat does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
