Basketball Recap: Thayer Central Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Thayer Central had won two straight home games and Sam Souerdyke did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Thayer Central Titans walked away with a 57-48 win over the Shelby-Rising City Huskies thanks in part to Souerdyke, who went 8 for 16 en route to 22 points along with eight boards and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Thayer Central's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Kroll, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Those nine points gave him a new career-high.

Shelby-Rising City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dalton Pokorney, who put up 13 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Thelen, who had 17 points.

Thayer Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Shelby-Rising City, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-11.

Coming up, Thayer Central will take on Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shelby-Rising City, they and Osceola will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
