Basketball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Peak to Peak

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kent Denver, Peak to Peak was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-49 win over the Jefferson Academy Jaguars. Given the Pumas' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Jaguars are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Peak to Peak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Eschmeyer out in front who went 6-for-8 on his way to 19 points and three steals. What's more, Eschmeyer also posted a 71% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tysen Burton, who posted ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Peak to Peak was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson Academy only seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson Academy lost, don't look at Josh Neely. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-21 en route to 25 points. That was a full 51% of Jefferson Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Neely has earned more than a third of the team's points. Benjamin Pederson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Peak to Peak's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points over those games. As for Jefferson Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7.

Coming up, Peak to Peak will take on Stargate School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stargate School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season. As for Jefferson Academy, they will face off against Platte Canyon at 7:30 p.m. on February 27th. Jefferson Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 60.8 points per game.
