Football Recap: Mechanicsville Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Mechanicsville lost against Hanover back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs took a blow against the Hawks, falling 40-10. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Hawks are ranked 46th).

Kevin Garcia threw for 54 yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Mechanicsville and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Hanover, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mechanicsville will square off against Henrico at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hanover, they will take on Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hawks 10.8, the Blue Devils 9.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
