Baseball Game Preview: Valley Oaks CES Vanguards vs. Discovery Warriors

Valley Oaks CES is 1-9 against Discovery since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Vanguards will welcome the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Valley Oaks CES is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They lost 23-6 to Community Charter.

Justin Rendon put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Rendon was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Nathan Munoz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Lalo Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Discovery's offense. They came up short against Triumph Charter last Tuesday, falling 23-0. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 0-7-1. As for Valley Oaks CES, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Valley Oaks CES' way against Discovery when the teams last played back in March, as Valley Oaks CES made off with a 22-14 win. Will the Vanguards repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
