Baseball Game Preview: Loyd Star Hornets vs. Amite County Trojans

For the second straight game, Loyd Star will face off against Amite County. The Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Loyd Star is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Loyd Star's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Amite County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

The team relied heavily on Jordyn Kees, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Loyd Star's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Carson Sellers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Loyd Star hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Loyd Star now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Amite County, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
