La Cueva has gone a perfect 10-0 against Eldorado recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. La Cueva is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
On Thursday, La Cueva made easy work of Sandia and carried off a 3-0 victory.
La Cueva was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-21, 25-16.
La Cueva found their leader in freshman Sofia Flores-Gallegos, who had six digs and two aces.
La Cueva was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 17 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Eldorado didn't have quite enough to beat Manzano on Friday and fell 3-2. While the Golden Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Monarchs 25-19 in the first set.
Eldorado started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-13, 15-11.
La Cueva's win bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Eldorado, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
La Cueva beat Eldorado 3-1 when the teams last played on October 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
