Softball Game Preview: Metcalfe County Hornets vs. Hart County Raiders

Metcalfe County is 2-8 against Hart County since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Metcalfe County has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Metcalfe County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Adair County on Tuesday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 16-1.

Metcalfe County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Groce, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Meanwhile, Hart County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Campbellsville. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 28th.

Metcalfe County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-1. As for Hart County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.

Metcalfe County suffered a grim 23-3 defeat to Hart County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
