Baseball Game Preview: West Marion Trojans vs. St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws

For the second straight game, West Marion will face off against St. Stanislaus. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rock-a-Chaws at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (West Marion has won four straight at home, while St. Stanislaus won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for West Marion's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Stanislaus on Tuesday.

For St. Stanislaus' part, they got a great performance from Jackson Orozco as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Orozco has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Stanislaus' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Wiley Mossy, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

St. Stanislaus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for West Marion, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 8-15.
