Baseball Recap: Harvard Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Harvard can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They blew past the Alden-Hebron Green Giants 11-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hornets needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Eltan Powles made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Harvard is 4-2 when Powles posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-17 otherwise.

Harvard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alden-Hebron only posted an OBP of .318.

Harvard's win bumped their record up to 5-19. As for Alden-Hebron, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Harvard will venture away from home to face off against Marengo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Alden-Hebron, they will head out to square off against Schaumburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
