Softball Recap: Orestimba Gets the Win

Orestimba played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against the Escalon Cougars by a score of 10-6. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hailey Starr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Avila, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Salece Machado also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Orestimba's record is now 4-8. As for Escalon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Orestimba and Escalon will both be playing Sonora the next time they take the field. Escalon will host Sonora at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Orestimba will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
