Football Game Preview: Atkins Red Devils vs. Yellville-Summit Panthers

The Atkins Red Devils will square off against the Yellville-Summit Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Atkins' favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Yellville-Summit has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Friday, Atkins made easy work of Quitman and carried off a 35-13 win. Considering the Red Devils have won seven contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Yellville-Summit played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 62-21 loss at the hands of Melbourne. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Atkins will have to contain Kobyn Hubbard as he made an impact in Yellville-Summit's last game. He picked up 188 receiving yards and two TDs. Hubbard showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Eli Gerth, who rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Even if they lost, Yellville-Summit's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gerth, Ethan McCalla, and Ryland Lunde, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Atkins' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Yellville-Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Atkins against Yellville-Summit when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-14 win. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
