Basketball Game Preview: Canby Lancers vs. Renville County West Jaguars

The Canby Lancers will head out to face off against the Renville County West Jaguars at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Canby is looking for their season's first victory.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-33, which was the final score in Canby's tilt against Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County] on Saturday. The game marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

While Renville County West didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 68-30 stomp they got against Red Rock Central. The Jaguars' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Canby's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Renville County West, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Canby against Renville County West in their previous matchup back in February, as the team secured an 81-45 victory. Does Canby have another victory up their sleeve, or will Renville County West turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
