Baseball Game Preview: Vincent Memorial Scots vs. Rock Academy Warriors

The Vincent Memorial Scots will take on the Rock Academy Warriors in a tournament on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vincent Memorial made up a huge gap compared to their last game against El Cajon Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Scots blew past the Braves 15-5 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Scots considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Rock Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Lions.

Max Gimbel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Rock Academy is undefeated when Gimbel posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Olson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alec Endicott, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Rock Academy's record is now 8-2. As for Vincent Memorial, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Vincent Memorial might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Rock Academy in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Scots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
