Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Baker Mountaineers vs. Lynden Lions

Mt. Baker hasn't had much luck against Lynden recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mountaineers will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Baker has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mt. Baker is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Bellingham, falling 14-1.

Meanwhile, Lynden entered their tilt with Nooksack Valley on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 16-3 win. Considering the Lions have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lynden pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Mt. Baker, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Mt. Baker suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Lynden in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mountaineers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
