Softball Recap: Lake Mary Comes Up Short

Lake Mary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Timber Creek Wolves. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Addi Novitchkov was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Avery Ashford also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Even though they lost, Lake Mary hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Lake Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Timber Creek, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Mary will challenge Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Mary's pitchers better be ready for this one: Hagerty has averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Timber Creek, they will take on Oviedo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Timber Creek is facing Oviedo at the right time seeing as Oviedo is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
