Basketball Game Preview: Pender Patriots vs. South Columbus Stallions

The Pender Patriots just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the South Columbus Stallions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pender is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 2nd on Thursday. They came up short against Lakewood, falling 47-26.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Columbus). They put the hurt on Hemingway with a sharp 42-21 win on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Stallions who have now won three contests in a row.

Pender better keep an eye on Trinity Strickland. She was instrumental in South Columbus' win, going 9 for 14 on her way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karys Townsend, who posted nine points and six steals.

South Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Pender, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Pender skirted past South Columbus 52-49 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pender since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
