Basketball Recap: Karina Tsisun's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Boiling Springs over Spartanburg

Boiling Springs lost against Spartanburg back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Boiling Springs Bulldogs fell 50-37 to the Spartanburg Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 13 points.

Boiling Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karina Tsisun, who posted six points in addition to 15 boards and four blocks. Tsisun has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Kinard, who had 13 points.

Even though they lost, Boiling Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Spartanburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Azaria Sims, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Sims a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Asia Bridges, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Boiling Springs' loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Spartanburg, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Boiling Springs will take on Westside in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Spartanburg and T.L. Hanna will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
